Gemini Isolated USB Adapter
(GIUSBA)

Picture of Gemini USB adapter with LEDS

The new Gemini driver that is being developed is going to have a feature that will probably make my USB and RS232 adapters that goes on the Deluxe hand controller port obsolete.
This new driver is hopefully going to have what the developers of this driver are calling a pass-through port. This means that programs like GCC (non ASCOM) will be able to share the same connection into the Gemini. I am reporting this to this group, because I do not want to sell one to anyone, if the sole purpose for purchase is to run a non-ASCOM program and ASCOM program on there mount at the same time. If you want to use it to provide electrical isolation that is another story. Now this pass-through port is NOT PERFECTED yet. It is causing error conditions with GCC, and maybe other non-ASCOM based programs.  After all the other features of the new driver are worked out, the writers will look this feature harder to see if they can speed it up. This groups goal is for every feature of this deiver to work correctly.
After they have done all they can, then it will be up to people like Daniel to address the compatibility if they want to. Remember, most programs that are non-ASCOM are non-ASCOM for a reason.

Now what I am planning on doing for the people that purchased the isolated version of the USB adapter is make an adapter so that the adapter they already have can be used into the RS-232 RJ22 jack. This is going to require PCB be developed. I have not set a cost for these DB15 to RJ22 adapter yet. They are going to have to contain as TTL to RS232 level translator, and will probably pull the power off of the Feature port.

Me making them is going to depend on how many people want them.

I am sorry that I did not know about this new feature of the Gemini
ASCOM driver, but I have not sold one of my adapters since I found out
without telling the purchaser about this. I am not in a position to give
refunds, and will not do so. Sorry. I cannot be held responsible for new
developments that cause my products to no longer be usable! [an error occurred while processing this directive]
